Nikon has an excellent reputation in the strobist community for the quality and reliability of their flash units, with the downside that they are quite pricey even in used condition. But once you have one of these SB-28, you don’t want to give it away anymore. From SB-600 / SB-800 and newer they can be used in the hot shoe of a digital SLR (support Nikon’s modern i-TTL flash exposure protocol).
